Communiqeh ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information in accordance with the privacy laws of Ontario and Quebec including PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and Law 25 (Quebec). Our website is also GDPR ((General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)) compliant as required by the European Union.

 

Website and Booking Platform

Our website and booking platform are both hosted on Wix. Please click the link to learn more about Wix’s privacy policy.

 

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following personal information when you engage with our services:

  • Name

  • Corporation or Employer Name (if applicable)

  • Contact details (email, phone number)

  • Scheduling and class preferences

  • Any other information required to facilitate language learning services

 

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely for the purpose of enhancing your experience with our language school and online learning initiatives, including:

  • Scheduling and managing classes

  • Communicating directly regarding your lessons

  • Providing customer support

  • Improving our services through analytics

  • Notifying you by email regarding new resources and promotions

 

We will never use any information for any purpose that is inconsistent with the purpose for which the information was collected. 

 

3. Storage and Protection of Your Data

We store client information, including payment information, within the Wix platform and through Stripe.  Your data is protected through industry-standard security measures to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure.  We recommend that you read both Wix's Customer Data Privacy Information and Wix's FAQs regarding privacy, data, and compliance and Stripe's Privacy Policy to understand how they store and protect your data. 

 

Internally, we protect your information by limiting the ability to view client information to only those people who require it to do their jobs.

4. Limitation of Liability

Communiqeh Language Training Canada takes reasonable steps to protect your personal information and to maintain the security of our systems. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure and we cannot be responsible for the actions of others. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.

By using our services and submitting personal information, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You do so at your own risk;

  • Communiqeh Language Training Canada, along with its agents, subcontractors, and affiliates, shall not be held liable for any loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of personal information, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct;

  • Communiqeh Language Training Canada shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from or related to the collection, use, or handling of personal information, or the collection, use, or handling performed by third-party applications we use;

  • Comminiqeh Language Training Canada shall not be held liable for the personal information that online community members share (intentionally or unintentionally) with other community members in the online community space or private messages between and among other members;

  • Communiqeh Language Training Canada shall not be held liable for the actions of online community members in sharing the personal information of other online community members;

  • Communiqeh Language Training Canada shall not be held liable for any accidental or unintentional non-compliance with applicable privacy legislation, including but not limited to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Quebec’s Law 25, or the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), provided we have acted in good faith and taken reasonable steps to meet our legal obligations.

 

We encourage all users to take appropriate steps to safeguard their own information, including using strong passwords and limiting access to their accounts and devices.

 

5. Cookies and Website Analytics

Our website uses the following types of cookies:

  • Essential Cookies: Necessary for website functionality.

  • Analytic Cookies: Help us understand website visitor behaviour to improve our services. You may adjust your browser settings to manage cookie preferences.

  • Marketing Cookies: Help us to understand and measure visitor engagement.

 

Unless you specifically advise us, we will not know who you are, even though we may assign your computer a cookie. We cannot use cookies, by themselves, to disclose the individual identity of any site user, and we never combine information gathered by a cookie with personally identifiable information, such as your name, telephone number, or your email address. 

In accordance with the French government data authority’s (CNIL) updated guidelines, site visitors are easily able to refuse all non-essential cookies by selecting “Decline All” on our cookie banner.  

  • Third-Party Cookies

Our site may, at times, include third-party applications (for example, Facebook or Google Maps).  Neither Communiqeh nor Wix has control over which cookies a third-party application may place on your device.  If you do not want a third-party application to place cookies, you may customize cookies or decline all cookies from the cookie consent banner.

 

6. Communication and Marketing

We will only contact you regarding your classes and related services. Promotional emails or marketing communications will only be sent with your explicit consent, which you may withdraw at any time.  Visitors to our website will never receive correspondence from Communiqeh without their consent, consistent with the principles of Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation.

 

7. Sharing of Information

We do not, and will never, sell, trade, share, disclose or rent your personal information. We may share data with service providers and teachers solely for operational and learning purposes, such as class scheduling and learning goals, on a need-to-know basis and in compliance with privacy laws.

We strongly discourage online community members from sharing personal information (for example, credit card information or home address) with other community members.  Passwords should never be shared with anyone and Communiqeh will never ask you for your password.

We advise that all online community members use prudence and discretion in sharing personal information with other online community members.  Online community members do not represent Communiqeh Language Training Canada and are not considered to be affiliates, therefore, they are not bound by the same commitments.  Understanding this, please act accordingly.

While our online community rules state that community members are prohibited from sharing the personal information of other community members, we cannot control the actions of individuals and therefore we are not liable for any privacy leaks or the sharing of personal information by online community members.

9. Video and Audio Recording

 

Video and Audio Recording by Communiqeh

Group classes and live events available through our online membership program will be recorded by Communiqeh and shared in the community for learning purposes.  By attending group classes and live events, you give your permission to be recorded.  If a recording contains personal or sensitive information, that information will be edited out before sharing in the community.

Private, 1:1 classes would only be recorded for the learning goals of the student (e.g. playback, review, AI summaries) and only with explicit consent of the student.

If Communiqeh wishes to use a recording that contains members for marketing or promotional purposes, we will always obtain the written permission of members before doing do.  We will never post publicly outside of Communiqeh's online community without your consent.

Zero-Recording Policy - Video and Audio Recording by Students and Online Community Members

Although the Province of Ontario operates under a one-party consent rule for the recording of audio and video communications, Communiqeh Language Training Canada maintains a strict policy prohibiting all participants, students, and online community members from recording any part of a group or individual class, session or event.

 

Individual community members, participants, and students are strictly prohibited from audio or video recording any private or group classes or live events.  If a student in a private class wants their class to be recorded, they are free to ask their teacher to do so and the teacher will manage the recording.

This policy is also listed in our Terms of Service and in our community rules.

This policy exists to protect the privacy, safety, and trust of all members of our learning community.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Decline unnecessary cookies.

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data.

  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications.

  • Inquire about how your data is used and stored.

  • Ask us to delete your personal data.
